Jarmila Emmerová (27 September 1929, Prague) worked as editor at Odeon in 1952-56. Later she joined the Department of English Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, as senior lecturer, and in the 1970s, she lectured at the Department of Translation Studies. She is the author of several university textbooks and numerous translations (Hardy, McCullers, Bradbury, Dickens, and others). In the 1990s, she served as the chairperson of the Czech Translators’ Guild.
