Františka Schormová

Františka Schormová is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Czech Literature at the Academy of Sciences (Department for Research into Literary Culture) and assistant professor at the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, Hradec Králové. She earned her PhD from the Department of Anglophone Literatures and Cultures, Charles University in December 2020. Her PhD project “African-American Poets Abroad: Black and Red Allegiances in Early Cold War Czechoslovakia” was awarded the Martin Hilský Award, Jan Palach Award, and the Charles Bernheimer Prize awarded by the American Comparative Literature Association. She has been a Fulbright-Masaryk Fellow at Harvard University, Jan Patočka Fellow at IWM Vienna, a PhD Fellow at CEFRES (French Center for Humanities and Social Sciences), and, most recently, a Visiting Fellow at Northumbria University and a Library Grant Recipient at John F. Kennedy Library at Freie Universität Berlin. She is interested in transnational perspectives on literature, Cold War history, translation studies, and the intersections of literature and racial imaginaries.
