Courses

The BA programme comprises a number of compulsory courses, whose number and specifications may differ for Single Subject / Double Subject students.

In addition to the compulsory component, Single Subject students are required to take in total courses from the range of seminars designated as elective by the Department of Anglophone Literatures & Culture / Department of the English Language & ELT Methodology.

Single Subject Students must also compile the interdisciplinary component of the English & American Studies programme, worth in total 20 credits.
The Department recommends three basic areas from which the student may choose: general linguistics, aesthetics, theatre studies. Depending on the variable offer of the respective Departments, a number of courses forming the standard interdisciplinary module is recommended each year. If a student wishes to select courses outside this standard range, s/he must have this choice approved by the Head of the Department of Anglophone Literatures & Culture / Department of the English Language & ELT Methodology.
Alternatively, a student may select an interdisciplinary module from the offer of other study programmes. In that case, the selected courses must form a coherent complex. Approval of both the host Department and the Head of the Department of Anglophone Literatures & Culture / Department of the English Language & ELT Methodology is required.

The form below is designed to facilitate orientation in the range of courses which form a part of the BA programme according to the criteria outlined in the table.
Course descriptions can also be accessed in the Student Information System.
